Discover 'Go! Don't Stop!’

'Go! Don't Stop!’ was written on a frosty January night in 2010 while Postyr Project's soprano Tine Fris was riding her bike home from one of the very first rehearsals with the group. Tine jumped off the bike, grabbed her phone and made a quick recording of the sketch. It didn't take long before the group had made a proper studio recording of the song, which was released as the first single of their debut album.

The length of the song, at only one and half minutes, contributes to the impact of the number. This punchy tune is very effective and a good feature on Postyr Project's album. More and more a cappella groups are starting to write original material and this is a great example of how to capture your audience – combining good song writing with effective a cappella sounds such as: a quirky bass line, livelooped backing vocals and sharp beatboxing.

The two solo female voices (from Tine Fris, soprano, and Line Groth, alto) blend together very well, so much so that it almost sounds like the same person has recorded the two different parts. Listen to how well their voices complement each other:

The repeated, descending bass line riff demonstrates Kristoffer Fynbo Thorning’s impressive vocal range, going down to low A notes. The backing vocals add variation to the song and fill out the texture, such as the subtle humming and the syncopated, ostinato "ohs" laid down by one of the female voices.

Tune your ear into each part of the rich texture (00:56)

Try to hear:

  • 2 x lead vocals
  • Male harmony, echoing the lyrics
  • Female 'oh' harmony
  • Bass line
  • Beatbox percussion

Postyr Project describe the meaning of the song in their own words:

"Finding Prince Charming can sometimes feel like finding the hay stack needle. ‘Go! Don't Stop!’ goes out to all the single ladies in search of Mr. Right. Don't give up, girls! Keep looking. Go and find him. Don't stop!"
